Last Night

Last night I had the time of my life.
I saw the girl that was meant to be mine.
She was the one to be my wife.

I went to a party of a friend of mine.
My friend said to me, "Man, you have to meet this girl.
I know you'll fall for her."
I went in the room and I met this girl.
She was all right, but she wasn't the one.
I knew and I felt it inside.
Then I saw her out of the corner of my eye.
She was the most beautiful.
She looked like an angel.
I knew I had found her, the girl to be forever mine.

I was nervous just looking at her.
But I went up to her and I asked her for her name.
She told me her name and I told her mine.
Then I asked her if she cared to dance.
She gladly accepted and that's how we met.
As we danced and danced I fell more and more in love.
As we danced without any worries on our minds.
I thought to myself, I wish she were mine.
We danced all night long.
We danced to our favorite songs.

I asked her if she wanted to get away from the crowd and noise.
She said yes, so we took a ride to the city.
We laughed, we talked, and we had fun.
After a while we headed back to the party.

The lights and city limits were behind us.
On the way back not one word was said.
I don't know why. I should have asked you
right there and then to be forever mine.

The party is now over. It's just my friend and I all alone.
Cleaning up the mess in his home.
I'll never get rid of the memory of the time I had.
This sort of one night stand. The night you were all mine.

My alarm clock wakes me up. I get up
and give myself a look in the mirror.
I'm upset at myself because I left you.
And I never had a chance to ask you to be forever mine.

I wish last night could happen again tonight.
