The Kiss
"I love you," she said.
"I love you too," he whispered.
As they hugged tighter, their eyes met
and with a flush of courage from each person,
they kissed.
At that moment it felt as though the room had disapeared.
They were standing on a cloud and nothing else mattered.
He felt a glow of warmth from every feature on her body.
She felt suddenly cozy as every hateful or sorrowful
thought vanished from her mind.
They concentrated on one thing only,
the kiss, the only thing that mattered.
They wished with joint effort that it would last forever
but the voices around them started to resurface,
the lights came back on,
and the music played,
as they descended to earth.
As they looked at each other,
they smiled
remembering the kiss.
