No. 1 Florida dominates inside



GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Al Horford and Joakim Noah dominated again inside, combining for 34 points and 17 rebounds in leading top-ranked Florida to a 90-61 victory over Jacksonville on Thursday night.

The defending national champions extended their winning streak to 14 games and won their 23rd consecutive game against non-conference opponents.

Florida (3-0) built a 31-point lead late in the first half, going ahead 45-14 on Taurean Green's 3-pointer, and cruised the rest of the way. The Gators made 23 of their first 27 shots, and hit 59 percent for the game.

Even with the reserves playing much of the second half, the Gators overwhelmed Jacksonville (1-2). They did the same to Samford and North Florida to open the season.

Corey Claitt led North Florida with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Jesse Kimbrough and Tyrone Curnell added 10 points apiece.

No. 11 Duke 75, UNC-Greensboro 48 — Brian Zoubek scored 17 points off the bench to lead Duke in the rout of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Gerald Henderson had 12 points, and David McClure and DeMarcus Nelson added 11 apiece for the Blue Devils (3-0), who never trailed. Duke shot 53 percent from the field while holding the Spartans to 32 percent shooting.

Kyle Hines scored 17 points, reaching double figures for the 24th straight game. Ricky Hickman added 12 points for UNC-Greensboro (0-3), which fell to 0-18 against ranked teams since moving to Division I in 1991-92.

No. 23 Georgia Tech 103, Georgia State 74 — Lewis Clinch scored 20 points and Georgia Tech overwhelmed Georgia State with its depth, pressure defense and outside shooting to easily win the first game between the Atlanta schools in 13 years.

Freshmen Thaddeus Young added 19 points and Javaris Crittenton had 18 for Georgia Tech (3-0).

Crittenton scored all of his points in the first half, going 7-for-7 from the field. He hit three 3-pointers as the Yellow Jackets were 8-for-13 from behind the arc while building a 58-30 halftime lead.

Lance Perique was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to lead Georgia State (0-2) with 22 points. Rashad Chase added 18.

No. 13 Memphis 111, Jackson State 69 — Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 21 points to lead six Memphis players in double figures to overcome Trey Jackson's 32 points for Jackson State.

Memphis (1-0) never trailed in the game, led by as many as 23 in the first half and continued to build the advantage after the break. Jeremy Hunt scored 16, while Doneal Mack added 14, and Robert Dozier had 13 points before fouling out.

Julius Young added 11 and Grant Maxey had 10 for Jackson State (0-4).

Michigan St. 63, No. 19 Texas 61 — Drew Neitzel scored on a drive with 2.4 seconds left to lift Michigan State over Texas in the semifinals of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Michigan State (4-0) will play Maryland for the championship Friday night at Madison Square Garden. The Terrapins (4-0) beat St. John's 92-60 in the other semifinal.

In a game of two young teams, freshmen were key for both.

Raymar Morgan had 18 points for Michigan State, while Kevin Durant had 21 for the Longhorns (2-1), one less than Abrams, a sophomore.
